The Welfare Association for the Development of Afghanistan (WADAN)

I contacted WADAN about my interest in wanting to visit Afghanistan to discover more about my roots and my interest in supporting schools in the rural areas. During my time in Afghanistan I visited many Community Based Schools in Nangahar Province accompanied by wonderful, dedicated and supportive WADAN staff who I have the upmost admiration for. I met many dedicated teachers and passionate children who had a thirst for education despite the hardships and conditions they had to teach and learn in. I was and still am eternally grateful to WADAN consultant Jean Kissel and all her staff for giving me this opportunity to visit Afghanistan and how the journey as enriched my life and understanding of the challenges that face Afghan children not only today but in the future. My aim and goal is to help raise educational awareness and support the growth and resourcing of Community based Schools on behalf of WADAN.
